Hey guys! So I’ve had this strange revelation. As some of you’ll might know, my blog is a place where I share my story with the world. By story I don’t mean my life story; it’s just a book I’m working on.
So I thought, heck why shouldn’t I interact with my audience a little? Why shouldn’t I share my story with you awesome people (I so wasn’t trying to flatter you guys *winknudge*)
And this is how Procrastinating Tuesdays came along (can we please not judge the name, it was a spur of the moment thing). Since procrastinating is my favourite thing to do (yours too, stop lying) and Tuesdays are my favourite day, I’m going to be using this platform to talk about a topic that I relate to or just rant.
So, today’s topic is procrastination *drum roll*.
To start, I would just like to say that procrastinating sucks. Forgive my bad language and dirty mind but you have to agree with me on this. It’s the single most frustrating feeling in the world. No one wants to procrastinate. To quote Time Urban, ‘The thing that neither the dictionary nor fake procrastinators understand is that for a real procrastinator, procrastination isn’t optional—it’s something they don’t know how to not do.’ I couldn’t have said it better.
We can’t stop doing it and somewhere inside, we know it’s wrong. We know we can’t delay that assignment, that project for very long but we can wait till the night before and then pull an all-nighter, right? Who doesn’t do that?
The result? We end up getting a C grade.
(Warning- I have stolen this image from Tim Urban, but can you blame me? The whole topic fits into this image).
Now this is exactly what goes on in the mind of a procrastinator. For teenagers, it is the worst thing that can happen . We can think of every thing in the world except the task at hand. As an adult, no one’s really watching everything you do, no one really cares. And as teenagers we hate that don’t we? We hate that people actually care.
But procrastination is not something we can help. It’s the rawest form of ‘bittersweet’ you will ever find.
So I am now procrastinating by writing this post on procrastination (oh shut up will you) and have now realized I have two days to prepare for a Physics test. The panic monster in me has finally awakened. Wish me luck will you?
Comment and tell me about your experiences with procrastination. I’d love to hear them!
Also, just one last thing before you go, check out Tim Urban’s video on procrastination. Trust me, you will be rolling on the floor with laughter:)
